Connect Shopify

FitMyType imports your products, sizes, orders and returns from Shopify with a small app you create in your own Dev Dashboard. It takes about ten minutes.

  1. 1. Create the app in your store's Dev Dashboard

Sign in to the Shopify Dev Dashboard (dev.shopify.com) with the account that owns your store. The app must be made in the same organisation as the store: Shopify only gives FitMyType a token for a store of the app's own organisation.

    • Open Apps in the left menu.
    • Choose Create app, then Start from Dev Dashboard.
    • Name it, for example FitMyType import, and create it.
  2. 2. Give the app its read access

In the app's Access section, add these read scopes. FitMyType only reads: it never changes your products or orders.

    • read_products: products, variants and stock
    • read_orders: orders and refunds
    • read_all_orders: orders older than 60 days (the full history)
    • read_returns: returns and their reasons
    • read_order_edits: edited orders

read_all_orders lets FitMyType read your whole order history, not only the last 60 days. That history trains the size recommendations for your shop.

  3. 3. Release a version

Choose Release to save a version of the app. A store can only install an app that has at least one version. When you add a scope later, release a new version and approve it on the store.

  4. 4. Install the app on your store

    • Go back to the app's Home and open Distribution.
    • Pick Custom distribution and enter your store's myshopify.com address.
    • Open the install link Shopify creates and approve the install on your store.
  5. 5. Copy the Client ID and secret

In the app's Settings, copy the Client ID and the API secret key. Keep the secret private: paste it only into the FitMyType back-office.

  6. 6. Connect in the FitMyType back-office

In the FitMyType back-office, add a Shopify source with your store's your-store.myshopify.com address, the Client ID and the API secret key, then choose Test connection. It names any scope that is missing; FitMyType saves the connection only once the test passes.

The first import reads your products and then your full order and return history in the background. The Imported Products page shows how far it is.
